Hikers’ paradise Montafon

The alpine valley Montafon is located in the south of Vorarlberg and in the south-western corner of Austria. It is surrounded by three mighty mountain ranges: in the northwest, the characteristic limestone rocks of the Rätikon, in the south you find the crystalline, central-alpine rocks of the partially glaciated Silvretta and in the north-east the Verwall. Thus the Montafon is an ideal starting point for all mountain enthusiasts.

All in all, 500 km marked hiking trails wind through juicy meadows, from hut to hut, past mountain pastures, over hills and ridges up to the peaks of the Montafon mountain ranges Verwall, Rätikon and Silvretta (Piz Buin 3,312 m). Special buses for hikers, cable railways and chair lifts shorten the approach routes up to the sunny heights. Mountain- and hiking guides guarantee safety during the (guided) alpine tours and climbing courses.

GUIDED HIKING TOURS FREE OF CHARGE WITH THE MONTAFON GUEST CARD

The mountain guides from BergAktiv are partners of the Montafon tourism office and offer a programme of up to 3 guided hiking tours per day from May to the end of October. The programme of the mountain guides of BergAktiv includes a multitude of easy, medium and challenging half-day and whole-day tours as well as excursions of several days in the mountain world of the Rätikon, the Verwall or in the Silvretta. Hereby great store is set by the topics of the “theme hikes”. Thus there are hiking tours with a background of botany, special herbs, mining, the traditional mule transport paths and smuggling in the Montafon; other topics are the life of the tribe of the “Walser” in the course of the centuries, water and its usage by man or fairy tales and legends, and educational tours about forest and wood, and many more.

Participation in the guided hiking tours is free of charge for holders of the Montafon guest card. You can obtain the Montafon guest card from your host. Without the guest card, the price is € 10.00 per hiking tour and person.
