What is Nordic walking?
Nordic walking was developed as a summer training method for top athletes from cross-country skiing, biathlon and Nordic combination in cooperation with the worldwide biggest carbon pole producer exel.
The technique of Nordic walking is similar to the motion of cross-country skiing and very easy to learn. Nordic walking uses the physiologic, diagonal motions of walking by the conscious use of the poles. The right pole touches the ground when the left heel does, and the other way round. The walking speed can be increased by a more forceful use of the muscles of the arms and torso, and thus the effectiveness of the training unit can be increased. By varying the training method, e.g. fast small steps or big sweeping steps or by the simultaneous, parallel use of the poles, variety and fun are guaranteed. The intensity of the training can be varied by jogging and even jumping (max. 20 jumps). Thus an interval training from low levels of strain up to the High Impact Workout can be achieved.
